The meanest race car of all times….The GT40 revealed & remade

The Ford GT40 rides again

The Ford GT40 is one of the world’s most stunning and recognizable race cars in the world.

The Ford GT 40 combines a drop dead gorgeous, curvaceous body with a massive engine and an unbeaten racing pedigree. A remarkable racing history against racing dominate Ferrari,  making it one of the most iconic race cars of all time. This was the car that shattered Ferrari’s hold on the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1960s.

In this exclusive TFLcar video we visit Superformace in Southern California to check our their version of this iconic car that was blessed and modified by Carroll Shelby.

Yes, you too can own a new GT40. A new car that is carefully crafted to even the smallest detain to match either the Mark I and Mark II GT40 that went on to win almost every important race that it entered.

Editor’s note: The Cobra Daytona and Ford GT 40 are completely different vehicles with a completely different philosophic approach to their construction. The Daytona was a front-engine/rear drive Cobra in a slick shell with a unique, scalloped rear end. It was a racer that had the potential to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in its own right.

Fans and experts speculate about what might have been. If Carol Shelby was fully backed by Ford with his Daytonas, there was a good chance he could have dominated with them. Still, with the GT 40’s rear engine, excellent balance and a platform specific to racing, it was hellbent on becoming a winner.

With Carol Shelby’s help, the GT 40 would grown to squash Ferrari – several times.
