The 1988 Lamborghini Countach is perhaps one of the most iconic Italian sports cars ever built. Ferraris may come and go but you’ll never forget seeing your first Lamborghini Countach in the wild.
Perhaps part of the cars classic appeal is that it defines over the top crazy Italian super car. Marcello Gandini of Bertone, who styled the Lamborghini Countach, was a young and somewhat inexperienced designer who didn’t know (or perhaps care) that a car has to also be practical to drive.
Instead, he penned a super car that embodies the most radical design elements of the time including scissor doors and massive air scoops to cool the Lamborghini Countach giant V12 engine.
