The European 2016 Hyundai Tucson will debut at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show. This European-built (Czech Republic) crossover will feature five optional power-plants (two gas and three diesel), two transmissions and a host of upgrades. This European version will only be sold in Europe.
It’s a good bet that the North American version of the new Hyundai Tucson will be similar.
“The All-New Tucson is a bold new car that represents another leap forward for Hyundai,” commented Tony Whitehorn, President & CEO, Hyundai Motor UK. “With a fantastic design and advanced technologies, it makes a strong statement about where the Hyundai brand is heading and provides a highly competitive vehicle in the important C-SUV segment.”
The exterior of the Hyundai Tucson shares a strong family resemblance to the Hyundai Santa Fe and features LED-augmented lighting front and rear.
The All-New Tucson has 513 litres (18.1 cubic feet) of cargo capacity with all the seats up.
An all-new design with an improved interior and more cargo space is complimented with new safety features including the Autonomous Emergency Braking system. Using three operational modes: pedestrian, city and inter-urban, (at low and high speeds) the Autonomous Emergency Braking system will trigger automatic braking whenever it detects unsafe closing speeds with persons or vehicles in front.
According to Hyundai, the all-new Tucson will go on sale in Europe during the second half of 2015.
“Design expresses our progressive spirit and passion, and it is transforming our brand. The All-New Tucson has a bold and athletic presence achieved through refined, flowing surfaces, bold proportions, sharp lines and most importantly, our newest generation hexagonal grille – our brand signature,” said Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer at Hyundai Motor Group.
Unusually, the Hyundai press release does not mention what type of All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system the 2016 Hyundai Tucson will offer. When Asked, the Hyundai representative said, “More information will be released in due course. The Tucson will receive its public debut at Geneva Motor Show.”
