We have lots of Jeep questions, and we want answers. Roman Mica sits down with Mike Manley, CEO of Jeep and Ram Trucks to get the latest scoop. Mr. Manley confirms several major pieces of news!
2018 Jeep Wrangler (JL)
Enthusiasts and consumers have been waiting for the next Wrangler news for some time. Most of us have expected to see the JL Wrangler at the 2017 Easter Jeep Safari and/or 2017 New York Auto Show in April. The debut of the JL is apparently being delayed to a later date. Mike Manley says that the new Jeep Wrangler will debut during the calendar year 2017, but that the exact date of the debut is still under question. This sounds like good news, but Manley neither confirmed nor denied that the JL will first be seen at the 2017 LA Auto Show.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
The Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee has been rumored, spied testing in the wild, and rumored again. Most of us thought the Hellcat Jeep will make its debut at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show in January. That was not the case. It did not appear in Chicago either. The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT was there instead. Manley confirms that the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will be revealed at the 2017 New York Auto Show in April (alongside the Dodge Challenger Demon). That is a lot of supercharged HEMI horsepower at one show!
Jeep Grand Wagoneer
The Grand Wagoneer is still part of the Jeep plan, according to Mike Manley. We don’t get many more details than that. Relatively cheap fuel in the United States and seemingly insatiable appetite for luxury SUVs should make the Grand Wagoneer business case a bit easier to make.
Jeep Pickup Truck
In case you were wondering or worried about the future of a Jeep pickup truck. Manley acknowledges that the pickup truck is still part of the big picture. Other details are still unknown.
