Elon Musk has just announced a new software update for Tesla models S, 3 and X called ‘Party and Camper Mode’.
What Does Party and Camper Mode Do?
As per the Tweet: Tesla models with Party and Camper mode will be able to use many of the vehicle’s HVAC controls as well as some lighting features and the car’s stereo while parked. Elon says this will work for 48 hours or more while the car is parked.
This feature could be really nice if you are camping a little ways outside the city and need to charge your phone, or light up a camp spot.
This is obviously difficult with a normal car, as you run the risk of draining your battery. Or you leave the internal combustion engine running and waste gas the whole time. As Elon puts it, one of the benefits of a large battery is that it takes a long time to drain when powering relatively small devices like a car stereo or phone charger.
We don’t have many more details about this update just yet. We will let you know about more details as we learn them.
