The all-new 2018 Audi S4 and S5 will rocket from 0-60 MPH in 4.4 seconds according to Audi. The latest pair of S twins come with a 3.0L V6 Twin Scroll Turbo which makes 354 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Unfortunately, and much to Roman’s disappointment, no dual clutch or manual transmission is available on this car. This version of Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system sends 40% of the power to the front wheels and 60% to the rear. However, it has the ability to send up to 85% to the rear axle when necessary, of which 100% can be sent to either rear wheel.
So what does Roman think of the all-new 2018 Audi S4? Impressions are largely good. For canyon carving, a favorite pastime of Roman’s, he says it is excellent. There is ample power, with the S4 hitting 60 MPH in a claimed 4.4 seconds, and tons of grip thanks to some big, sticky tires and the Quattro AWD system.
However, the car is not perfect. Romans biggest complaint is the steering feel. As with many cars on the market today, the S4 has an electrically assisted steering rack which provides little feedback. So, while it is very fun in the corners, it doesn’t provide as much feedback as the older cars.
