2017 Audi S3 First Drive Review: Fast Things Come in Small Packages [Video]

Do good things come in small packages?

For those who love the Audi S3, the answer probably is yes. However, with a refresh for 2017, TFL’s Roman Mica got a chance to see for himself when he test drove the newest edition in Durham, North Carolina.

The S3, which is the sportier version of the A3, gets 21 city, 20 highway and 24 combined. The car starts at $42,900 but the version Roman drove came equipped with other features, bringing it to $51,320.

The car comes with a direct injected, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 292 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with the Audi Quattro system that provides power to all four wheels.

The A3 and S3 are the mini versions of the A4 and S4 and even the “mini me” version of the A8 and S8. Inside, the car has some high tech features including a virtual gauge cluster that’s customizable.

With it being small, Roman found that the backseats don’t offer a lot of room. The refresh means that there are new styling features including headlights, taillights and a front grille.

Did Roman like the refreshed S3? What did he think about the engine’s responsiveness? And, how was the overall drive of the S3? Find out by watching the complete TFL video above.
