First off, this is NOT the Trackhawk – the rumored Grand Cherokee with the 707-horsepower engine – it is the Trailhawk, a more off-road worthy Grand Cherokee with some cool design elements. Pictures of the SUV recently hit the internet and were quickly taken down. The good news is, what happens on the internet, stays on the internet. This is not the first time we’ve seen the Trailhawk, however, as it was produced as a 2013 model year vehicle.
From the pictures, you might be able to detect a minor lift, more aggressive off-road tires, red tow hooks, and red interior stitching. Many special edition vehicles fall flat since they often offer little to no advantage over the standard versions of the vehicles from which they were born. In my opinion, the Trailhawk is tastefully done and the extra ground clearance and upgraded tires provide a legitimate reason to get one.
Pricing, of course, has not yet been announced. If Jeep can keep it reasonable, I think they could have a winner with this latest Trailhawk. There’s nothing else we know at the moment but we’ll be at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, UT, next week, as well as the New York International Auto Show. Hopefully, Jeep will officially unveil the new JGC Trailhawk at these events.
