Mitsubishi Motors will hold a press conference at the New York International Auto Show, where they will unveil what they call their “new face.”
The announcement for the conference, which will be on April 2, is short on details but shows a car with a very un-Mitsubishi front end, with the trapezoid-shaped front end typical in the company’s cars replaced with a thick chrome bar across the upper grille surrounding the three-pointed-star emblem.
TFLcar will be covering the auto show straight from New York, so stay tuned for updates.
Mitsubishi is riding high after another strong sales month in February. The company had a sales increase of 26 percent from February 2014, and year-to-date sales are up 29.3 percent from the same time last year. While total sales numbers pale when compared to automakers like Toyota, Honda and GM, it’s the 12th month in a row with a year-over-year sales increase.
They’ve done it without any major new model introductions since the entry-level Mirage in 2013. The Outlander Sport, Mitsubishi’s best-selling vehicle, had its best February sales month ever, and the aging Lancer, introduced way back in 2007, saw a sales increase of 64.1% over February 2014. The new Mirage also had a solid sales month, with the most sales of any month since its introduction.
