This Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept makes us wonder – what does “Eau Rouge” mean for Infiniti?

Lets explorer this.  Eau Rouge direct translation from French is “Red Water” and refers to blood.  It’s also the name of a historically significant river, but we will not go into further detail there.  Infiniti chose this name as it relates to the Formula 1 Circuit of Spa Francorchamps, located in Belgium.  Specifically, the Eau Rouge corner complex of this famous F1 circuit.

These three corners combine left, right, left turn with fairly extreme elevation change and several blind areas.  As challenging and complicated this corner is, Formula 1 drivers of recent years are able to take Eau Rouge “flat out” in their race cars.  That is – racing drivers with nerves of steel and full commitment.  Infiniti’s partnership with four time Formula 1 world champion RedBull Racing team inspired the performance variant of the Q50 and the name.

The result is a wider and more aggressive looking Q50 sedan.  This is not just for looks.  The Q50 Eau Rouge packs a potent power-plant under the raised hood, details of which have not been revealed.  There are upgraded aerodynamics, suspension, brakes, wheels, and tires.  No doubt, Sebastian Vettel, Infiniti’s Director of Performance, had input into the development of this car and will continue to guide it.
