Mazda’s longest-running generation of the compact 3 carries on for another year, with some minor trim changes.
Over the past several months, there’s been a surprise comeback kid in Mazda’s sales charts — and it’s not what you might think. While the CX-5 and CX-50 are still the clear frontrunners in terms of sheer volume, the more affordable Mazda 3 has been clawing its way back up, even as this generation enters into its eighth model year. This time around, the 2027 Mazda 3 still more or less follows the same formula as previous years. That said, the automaker is finessing some more features into both its lower-end sedan and manual hatchback models, promising better value for what is (inevitably) a slightly higher price tag compared to last year.
At the base end, the 2027 Mazda 3 lineup still kicks off with the 2.5 S, hitting the best value point at $26,065 including Mazda’s $1,365 destination fee. The trim most folks will likely want to start at, the 2.5 S Select Sport, comes in $1,000 higher and adds in wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (you do get wired connectivity on the base model), as well as larger 18-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, leatherette seats, dual-zone climate control and keyless entry. The Select Sport is also the first trim available in the hatchback, and comes in $600 higher than its sedan counterpart.
Another change for the 2027 Mazda 3 comes with the manual hatchback model. It is still only available in one trim, though that trim is now the 2.5 Premium Plus. The “Plus” part adds in the larger 10.25-inch infotainment display with touchscreen functionality for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a heated steering wheel along with the existing adaptive front lighting and active driving display. The 6MT version still only comes with the standard 186-horsepower 2.5-liter engine and front-wheel drive, and is available for $33,065.
At the top end of the range, the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus is the only remaining trim wherein you can get the 250-horsepower turbo-four. It is still available for both the sedan ($38,405) and the hatchback ($39,465) however, so you get some choice there.
Front-wheel drive is the default across most of the range, apart from the Preferred, Premium and Premium Plus trims. The positioning can be a bit odd to navigate, however, because all-wheel drive for the Preferred AWD only comes on the hatchback ($31,305), while the Premium AWD only comes on the sedan ($31,730). The hatchback Premium Plus with AWD (which gets a 6-speed automatic instead of a manual) comes in at $34,665.
Finally, at the top end of the 2027 Mazda 3 lineup, only the Turbo Premium Plus comes with standard all-wheel drive in either hatchback or sedan models within the same trim level. Apart from that broader price structure, several premium colors like Polymetal Gray Metallic, Soul Red Crystal and Snowflake White Pearl are available for an extra $595.
Since there’s not much changing, we should see 2027 Mazda 3 hit dealers soon.
