Dogs and driving prove to be a dangerous distraction according to new AAA survey

A new survey by the American Automobile Association (AAA) finds that dog owners are often driving while very distracted by Fido.

Four out of five dog owners responded to the survey by saying that they regularly take their dogs for a ride…which is something that you probably knew.

But here’s the potentially dangerous distracting part.

– One in three dog owners admitted that driving with Fido is distracting.

– One in five admitted to allowing their dogs on their laps while driving

– One in two said that they pet their dog while driving

– One in ten said they feed their dog while driving

– One in twenty said they play with Fido while driving

“Millions of Americans recognize that dogs are wonderful companions and
bring their favorite furry friend along on road trips, day trips and
even day-to-day errands,” said a spokesman for the AAA. “However, in
a vehicle this can mean added distractions for the driver.”
