Above: The prototype 2019 Lexus ES has been spied in central California!
Special thanks to TFL viewer Om Patel for sending in these awesome spy photos! What we have here looks to be some photos of the 2019 Lexus ES prototype testing in the wild. According to Om, these were taken in central California, at a gas station between LA and San Francisco. While we don’t know what Lexus has in store for the 2019 model year, here is some information about the current model:
2018 Lexus ES 350
The 2018 Lexus ES is the brand’s current luxury mid-size sedan offering. There are two variants to choose from: the ES 350 and the hybrid ES 300h. The ES 350 comes with a naturally-aspirated, 3.5-liter V6 that makes 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. The ES 350 is front-wheel drive, routing its power through a 6-speed automatic transmission.
2018 Lexus ES 300h
The hybrid ES 300h, by comparison, has a naturally-aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder paired to a set of electric motors in the front wheels. Combined, this setup makes 200 horsepower, with 156 horsepower coming from the gas engine. Power is again sent to the front wheels, but this time through a CVT.
Once again, we’d like to thank Om Patel for sending in these photos. If you have some spy photos of your own, and you feel like sharing, feel free to send them to info@tflcar.com and we will publish them here!

We were lucky enough to spend some time with the ES sedans’ big brother: the 2018 Lexus GS F. In this comparison, the GS F squares off against the BMW 550i xDrive.
