Acura aims to entice early ZDX reservation holders with a club-like offer.
The brand’s first all-electric vehicle is set to hit showrooms in early 2024, and the automaker announced Monday that its reservation books are open. We still don’t have exact numbers for how much it will cost: Acura says the base A-Spec will start around $60,000 with a single-motor, rear-wheel drive configuration. If you’re looking at the 500-horsepower, dual-motor Type S, you can expect to spend closer to $70,000. Nevertheless, you can now put your name own for a new ZDX either through Acura’s online portal or at your local dealer.
Typically, early adopters for new electric vehicles get some sort of perk to sweeten the deal, and the 2024 Acura ZDX is no exception. The company says it’s offering an “Energy Key Card” too all reservation holders. Rather than unlocking some special element of the car itself, as the name might suggest, the Energy Card “provides exclusive benefits including discounts to Acura entertainment partners and special events.” Such events include the 2024 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah as well as the 2024 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, with the latter promising “VIP access” including special programming and parking for the event. The card, available both physically and digitally, gives owners discounts with vendors like Topgolf and Bang & Olufsen.
Interestingly, you might have noticed the Acura Energy Card does not, in itself, offer something EV drivers may want more than discounts and special access: Charging credits.
If you pre-order a 2024 Acura ZDX, it’s worth noting you do get a few different options for charging baked into the vehicle’s MSRP. When it signed a deal with EVgo and Electrify America back in September, it laid out three “charging packages” included in the car’s price, for you to choose when you lock in your order:
- (1) A Level 2 home charging station; $500 Honda/Acura Home Electrification installation credit; $100 EVgo charging credit and 60-kWh of Electrify America charging credit; or
- (2) A Level 1/2 portable charging kit; $250 HHE/AHE installation credit; $300 EVgo charging credit and 60-kWh of Electrify America charging credit; or
- (3) No charger at all; $750 of EVgo charging credit and 60-kWh of Electrify America charging credit
