Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Grand Caravan 35th Anniversary Edition Throw Back to the Original Minivan

Chrysler first introduced Americans to the concept of minivans back in 1983.

Think of this as an ode to one of the most practical vehicles around.

They may be falling out of favor as crossovers boom in popularity, but the minivan still serves a genuine practical purpose. Virtually every American family has owned one at some point – at least if they’ve lived in a family with several kids. From soccer practice to family road trips, the minivan may serve up certain memories of yesteryear. Chrysler is one of the companies that first introduced Americans to the concept back in 1983, with the Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan. Now, 35 years later, it’s still in the minivan game, and it’s bringing out some special anniversary editions to celebrate.

Fiat Chrysler is introducing “35th Anniversary” editions of the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Grand Caravan. Over those past 35 years, Chrysler has managed to move more than 14.6 million examples globally, and the modern Pacifica continues to carry the torch for FCA in the segment. For both the Pacifica and Grand Caravan, the 35th Anniversary edition adds new badges, an all-black interior and more equipment, depending on the model. Buyers can add the package to Touring L or Limited Pacifica models, as well as SE or SXT versions of the Grand Caravan.

Chrysler Pacifica 35th Anniversary Edition: Extra Features

Chrylser touts a wide range of standard equipment in the normal 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. However, the 35th Anniversary edition adds more features to each model. On the Touring L, you get a memory driver’s seat, eight-passenger seating, an overhead DVD system and 18-inch wheels on top of standard equipment. Touring L Plus gets a memory driver’s seat, eight-passenger seating and a dual-pane sunroof. Finally, the 35th Anniversary edition adds 20-inch wheels to the fully-loaded Limited model.

On the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Touring L, you get a 13-speaker Alpine audio system. With it, there’s FCA’s 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C Nav system, as well as 17-inch wheels. Adding the package to the Hybrid Limited model adds 18-inch wheels. There’s also the S Appearance package you can spec with these models, if you’re going for a more blacked-out appearance.

Dodge Grand Caravan 35th Anniversary Edition

The Dodge Grand Caravan is still part of the lineup, and is marginally less expensive than the Pacifica at the lower end. Adding the 35th Anniversary edition package to the SE trim adds Stow ‘N Go second-row seats, as well as a powered driver’s seat. On SXT trims, you get navigation, as well as a Driver Convenience Group with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and second-row shades.

FCA hasn’t announced pricing on the package yet, but it will be available on the Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Grand Caravan from summer 2019.
