Dodge Viper (1992 – 2010; 2013 – 2017)
No car on this list is as legendary as the Dodge Viper. Striking looks, hardcore handling and a colossal V10 engine made this sports car a true piece of Americana. Exemplifying a “no substitute for cubes” philosophy, the Viper’s displacement actually increased over its lifetime. Starting with 8.0 liters and 400 horsepower, the final generation sported 8.4 liters and 645 horsepower. That power and a notable lack of safety equipment endeared this car to a select following. However, that same lack of safety equipment is the reason the Viper’s getting the ax this year. FCA has decided to kill the Viper because it can’t comply with a federal mandate requiring all cars produced after this year to possess side airbags.
