Tom Magliozzi (1937 – 2014)

Tom Magliozzi, thanks for the laugh and the laughs. Tom passed away this week from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 77 years old.

Of course, Tom and his younger brother, Ray, helped and entertained the world as Click and Clack on their weekly NPR talk-show “Car Talk”. Car Talk stopped live taping in 2012, but can still be heard in syndication.

Tom and Ray showed the world that car repair and related questions are not so mysterious and not scary. However, Car Talk was as much about entertainment and human issues as it was about resolving car problems.

The Magliozzi brothers have twelve years between them, but turned out great friends and partners. Both graduated from MIT, and later started in the mechanic business. Tom accidentally got on the radio when a local radio station asked for a panel of mechanics.

Ray wrote this message and asked that fans who want to contribute – “The family asks that in lieu flowers, or rotten fruit, fans of Tom make a donation in his memory to either their local NPR station or the Alzheimer’s Association.”
