This is one Charger you do not want to see in your rear view mirror. The updated 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit gets updated along with the rest of the 2015 Charger lineup. It kick up the styling a few notches and take law enforcement technology and safety to the next level.
The Charger Pursuit police cruiser comes with a choice of two engines, and the supercharged HEMI Hellcat is not one of them (at least for now). The 3.6L Pentastar V6 makes 292 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It delivers an estimated 26 MPG on the highway and also comes with E85 capability, which is important for municipal fleets.
The highway patrol will likely get the 370 horsepower HEMI V8. This motor is capable of 0-60 mph acceleration in “under six seconds”. It can be configured with latest iteration of AWD that is mindful of fuel economy. The HEMI also uses cylinder deactivation for an estimated 25 MPG on the highway for two-wheel drive models.
Dodge worked with police departments to refine all aspects of the Pursuit. The car gets larger front and rear brake rotors, upgraded suspension bushings, reconfigurable steering wheel buttons to run auxiliary equipment, and a backup camera.
The new cruiser has a dizzying array of safety and driver-aid features. Dodge says there are 55 distinct safety features. There are fourteen brake-assist and stability control features to help keep the cruiser on the operational in tough weather conditions.
As a result, the 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit is more fuel efficient, more safe to operate, and provides a myriad of improvements inside and out to make everyday law enforcement jobs safer and easier.
