Detroit: Audi Allroad Shooting Brake concept points to Next TT

Audi Allroad Shooting Brake concept is interesting for several reasons.  First, it’s using Audi’s latest version of the e-tron plug-in hybrid system.  It combined a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 292 hp to power the front wheels in conjunction with a small electric motor.  There is another bigger electric motor in the back to provide propulsion and compliment Audi’s e-tron Quattro system.  All together, this concept is rated at 408 hp and 479 lb-ft.  These are big numbers, but if you are not yet impressed – please consider that this 3,500 lbs car can accelerate to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, and also deliver 123 MPG (based on ECE standards).   The combustion motor uses a big turbo and provides high-end power.  While the two electric motors supply the low end grunt.

Audi says that styling of this concept strongly hints at the upcoming next generation Audi TT sports car.  If you picture a car on a slightly smaller scale, lower to the ground, and with a sleeker roofline.  You are not far off the next TT.  In fact, this Shooting Brake has the new TT interior, which was also shown earlier this month at CES.  Good stuff!

We cannot wait for the next production Audi TT, in the meantime we can find solace by watching this concept from Detroit Auto Show:
