Nissan won’t confirm that the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept points directly at the next Nissan Maxima, but it does. With massive acclaim and such a winning design (that’s about the same size as the current Maxima) the indications are good that, in some way, the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept will influence the next Nissan Maxima.
The overall design of the Nissan Sports Sedan Concept was so well received during the unveiling at the 2014 NAIAS that Nissan had a hard time keeping journalists away during photography.
The current Nissan Maxima is a bit of a fish out of water. It’s slower from 0 to 60 mph than an Altima and its handling characteristics are about as sporty as a Toyota Camry V6. The Maxima is pretty pricey too. Building a new, sexy Nissan Maxima that has the feel of the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept is nearly an imperative.
Other indications that the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept may be Nissan’s next Four-Door Sports Car (4DSC):
- It uses a beefed up 3.5-liter V6 that makes more than 300 horsepower.
- The Nissan Sport Sedan Concept has a sport-tuned Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) driving the front wheels – like the current Maxima.
