In the spirit of Independence Day, what would be more appropriate for Throwback Thursday than an American muscle car? This week, we take a second glance at Nathan’s review of the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8.
The Challenger SRT8 has 470 horsepower produced by its 6.4 liter HEMI V8 — nearly 100 horsepower more than the R/T 5.7 liter V8. With such a large engine, you would think the biggest and baddest Challenger would suffer at the pump, but you would be wrong! The Challenger utilizes cylinder deactivation to save gasoline when the car doesn’t require every ounce of power.
With a new price tag, the 2012 Challenger SRT8 ran at about $44,000, but slightly used models begin near $35,000. If you’d like a fun American muscle car without the additional cost of buying new, the 2012 Challenger SRT8 may be the vehicle for you.
