This is the second trailer for Ron Howard’s Rush, a film about Niki Lauda vs. James Hunt in the 1976 Formula 1 racing season. We have the firs trailer (here) and loved every nostalgic second of it. Back from a time when F1 cars were about as fast as today’s F1 racers, without the gobs of technology or the safety equipment, there was a real chance of a driver dying or being seriously injured nearly every other race. Despite this, drivers of the period were undaunted and raced like animals.
Some of the best racing came out of the 1970’s and some of the most amusing characters too. Formula 1 was a different beast back in those days and I believe this film might serve as a reminder as to how far the sport has come.
Now, when you’ve grown up with racing in your veins and simple tracks all around, you become restless. I have only seen a few usable F1 tracks in the world. Spa, Silverstone, Indy and Montreal. Thus, when the opportunity came up to drive of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX in a beefed-up 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, I screamed like a school-girl. Are you kidding me!?
Is it as fun as it looks? Hell yes.
