2011 Bentley Continental GT gets unextreme makeover and the V8 option

You almost have to be a Bentley owner (or designer) to really notice the changes in the all new 2011 Continental GT.

According to Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen, Chairman and Chief Executive:

“The new Continental GT is an automotive work of art, with superb craftsmanship and elegant, contemporary design. It drives like a supercar, but without the usual sacrifices in ride or practicality. It is a car that you can enjoy every moment of every day.”

But while the changes to both the exterior and interior are more evolotionary (instead of revolutionary) the new car’s beating soul gets a significant makeover.

The Bentley’s 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine gets more power…all the way up to 567 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.

Bentley says that should be enough power to catapult the new 2011 car from 0 to 60 in about 4.4 seconds all the way to a top speed of 198 mph.

Customers who don’t want all of the power (really, why wouldn’t they) will be able to opt for a 4.0-liter V8 in 2011. Bentley has yet to release the numbers but the V8 will almost certainly provide a lower $ total at the pump.
