Three years ago the Nissan Juke debuted and people either loved it or hated it. Nissan seems to be having the last laugh, having sold nearly 420,000 units in less than 40 months.
Now at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, Nissan is debuting a new and improved 2015 Nissan Juke for the European market. There are new engine choices, new equipment, a design refresh, and many customization options.
Europeans will get three engine choices. The 1.5L diesel good for 109hp remains, but Nissan adds a 1.2L, and improves the 1.6L.
The 1.2L is a turbocharged gasoline engine, good for 113hp and 140 lb/ft of torque. The 1.6L is a naturally aspirated gasoline engine is good for 188hp and offers more low end torque than the outgoing model.
All models get LED daytime running lamps, gear shift indicator, tire pressure monitor, and CD radio. Depending on which model you choose you can also get air conditioning, fog lights, cruise control, and the Nissan Dynamic Control System, which gives the choice Normal, Sport, or Eco driving modes.
Other available equipment includes folding mirrors, light and rain sensors, back up camera, a 5.8″ color touchscreen, navigation, and NissanConnect, which includes Bluetooth and iPod integration.
Also available on the Juke is the Around View Monitor, giving a 360 degree helicopter view around the car. Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, and Moving Object Detection systems are available as well.
Two Juke models will also get a large glass panel roof that can be opened. The panel measures 964mm wide and 837mm long, with the opening measuring 693mm and 301mm.
The front and rear have both received a facelift. The upper lamps now incorporate bi-intensity LED daytime running lights and the lower headlights now have Xenon bulbs. There is more aggressive trim beneath the front bumper and the door mirrors now include LED turn indicators.
At the back end, the refreshed boomerang tail lights now utilize LED technology and the rear bumper has a more robust shape to it.
There is now a choice of ten colors for the Juke, as well as 16″ wheels standard, with 17″ and 19″ alloy wheels available on the upper trim levels. Juke owners can personalize their wheels, mirror caps, side sills, roof spoiler, and door handles with brightly colored inserts.
The new Juke will go on sale in Europe during the summer of 2014. Nissan tells us that more information on the US version will be available at a later date.
