Very few new cars are available with truly surprising options. From leather upholstery to premium sound, packages and features are generally common place across most models. Not so for the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA.
Between now and the end of May, buyers of a new 2017 Toyota Yaris iA may be sent a code that allows them to purchase a package direct from Toyota, and boy are these options quirky. Here is the shortlist.
The Whole Enchilada Package: For $15, owners can opt to buy an Enchilada with the possible choice of chicken, a blend of cheeses, salsa and guacamole.
The Min-iA-ture Package: Quite pricey at $200, Toyota will send you a model of the 2017 Toyota Yaris iA with a miniature version of you wearing a horse mask. These are genuine options straight from yarisiapackages.toyota.com.
The Full Trim Package: A $25 dollar gift card to a barber near you. As to why you wouldn’t just spend $25 without going through Toyota beats me.
The +1 Follower Package: A “guy” named Stan will like your posts on social media sight for a week. Although perhaps a little weird, Stan will set you pack just $1.99.
The Collector’s Edition Package: For a whopping $100,000, Toyota will send you a life sized case and wooden base to enclose your new 2017 Toyota Yaris iA. For the price of new Porsche 911, Toyota will also include delivery and assembly at no extra costs.
So whats the point you may be asking? Well its part of a marketing ploy to promote the Yaris iA as coming ” standard with pretty much everything.” Great, so these “packages” are a funny way to boost the value proposition, but don’t actually represent a possible option to consumers.
Except each and every on of these packages IS a reality, take a look the legal disclaimers below.
When was the last time you saw a car with an option for a $24,000,o00 private jet with which “potential purchaser will be contacted via phone or email to confirm details and introduce the purchase to the private jet broker who will responsible for facilitating the purchase.”
Truly unbelievable, and yet completely true. As for the quality of the enchilada, the speed of the jet or the accuracy of the tiny horse head, well you’ll just have to buy the car to find out!
