BMW debuted the fastest 5-series sedan ever 2017 North American International Auto Show.
The all-new M550i xDrive, with its twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 making 456 hp and a stout 480 lb-ft of torque, can get from 0 to 60 in a scant 3.9 seconds. The M’s all-wheel-drive system is rear-wheel biased for better handling.
Along with the M550i, BMW had the 530e hybrid at the show. The hybrid has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor, making a combined 248 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The 530e is no slouch, getting from 0-60 in 6.0 seconds in rear-drive form and in 5.8 seconds with xDrive all-wheel drive.
The M550i will start at $73,095 with destination and the M530e will start at $52,395 with destination, and $54,695 with xDrive, including destination.
Both the new models will arrive in dealerships in the spring.
