Challenger Hellcat vs. Barracuda: Which one wins in a drag race? [video]

Every Wednesday evening during the spring and summer local drag strip Bandimere Speedway is available for the public to bring their rides and see what kind of quarter mile times they can achieve. We recently took a 1999 Porsche 996 and a 2016 Volkswagen GTI to see how they compared, and also met up with a TFL fan to watch his tuned Ford F-350 diesel 4×4 race.

While these were both entertaining to watch, we really wanted to see a new Dodge Challenger Hellcat on the drag strip. As luck would have it, we caught one pulling up against an old Plymouth Barracuda. As luck would also have it, we had our new ultra high definition camera that shoots in 4k resolution and 60 frames per second so we thought, “why not roll camera and see what happens?” The result is the video you see above.

Challenger-Hellcat-vs-Cuda

While we did not get a chance to talk with the driver of the ‘Cuda, the Hellcat’s owner told is he had upgraded his tires to Hoosiers for the drag strip. Of course, the Dodge Challenger Hellcat comes with the standard 6.2L supercharged V8 that puts out 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

So, before you watch the video, which one do you think is faster: the old ‘Cuda or the new Hellcat?

Also, please tell us what you think of the 4k resolution and the 60 fps in the comments below. We’d love to know if you can watch and enjoy these ultra high definition videos.
