Recently, TFL’s Technical Editor Brian Waring spotted this obvious GM prototype highway and high altitude testing on I-25 near Castle Rock, Colorado.
While much of the car is undisguised, keen-eyed observers will note that it bears a strong resemblance to the previous generation GEO Metro. The Metro was known for being one of the most fuel-efficient subcompact cars on the market. It was a joint venture between GM and Suzuki. By closely studying this spy photo we’re guessing that GM intends to make the next generation of Geo Metro that’s even more fuel efficient with the addition of a diesel engine.
And while this prototype is missing a hood. We expect the next generation of the Geo Metro to be fully EPA diesel complaint as you can see by the serious consideration given to cleaning up diesel emission with a cat back exhaust.
