Jeep’s all-new Renegade continues to be a success as it again leads all subcompact crossovers in sales for November.
The big-eyed cute-ute led the list with 7,345 sales for the month, passing the Subaru XV Crosstrek, which had been the best seller for most of the year.
More than 50,000 Renegade were sold this year, putting it in fourth place overall. The Subie is the class sales leader with over 80,000 sold.
Most of the cars in this burgeoning segment are new, but the XV’s sales are up 17 percent from November 2014 and over 23 percent for the year.
Chevrolet’s Trax continues to put up solid numbers as well, taking third place overall and beating out its sister car, the Buick Encore. For the year, though, the Buick has a slight lead over the Chevy. The Encore, being one of the pioneers of the class, is also up from last year to the tune of 12 percent for the month and 33 percent for the year.
Fiat’s 500x, the cousin of the leading Renegade, also made a strong showing for the month, and the all-new Mazda CX-3 is off to a good start.
Alas, the Nissan Juke, one of the first subcompact crossovers, is down over five percent for the month and 30 percent for the year. Nissan has pledged a second generation Juke, so hopefully they will improve the current car’s shortcomings – namely a distinct lack of interior space – while keeping its fun-to-drive dynamics and unique styling.
