Are you looking for a newer car without a brand new price tag? Check out Throwback Thursday, the only TFLcar.com section featuring Roman and Nathan’s take on cars that are at least one model year old.
This week, we take a second glance at the 2012 Volkswagen Golf R. With prices beginning around $28,000, a used 2012 model comes in at a much more justifiable price than the new 2013 Golf R (around $34,000).
The 2012 Golf R takes the GTI and makes it better. The R sports 256 horsepower, 56 more than the GTI. This highest performing Golf has Volkswagen’s 4motion all-wheel-drive, making the car more capable in all types of weather. Unfortunately for some, DSG was not available on the 2012 R, but the enthusiasts will rejoice with the 6-speed manual transmission.
So, if you’re looking for some German engineering without the cost of latest model, the 2012 Golf R might be the vehicle for you. Take a look at Roman’s review of the car below, and check out our other throwback cars that we think are worth a second look HERE.
