Chances are that you’ve never heard of the French 1884 De Dion Bouton et Trepardoux.
But at 127-years old, the steam-powered car is the oldest vehicle still in running condition in the world. Check out the video below for a fun look at the old car.
And while it certainly has more in common with the locomotive than the car in your garage, it is never-the-less, older than any other car…making it the oldest car in the world…even older than that the Benz Patent-Motorwagen (or motorcar), built in 1886.
The De Dion is still capable of a top speed of 37 miles per hour today as the video below shows.
RM auctions excepts the car to sell for between $2 million and $2.5 million later this fall when it goes for sale in Hershey on Friday, October 7, 2011.
