The stunning Buick Avenir concept sedan made its debut on Sunday night at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.  Flanked by the 2016 Buick Cascada Convertible, the Holden-based Avenir looked stunning with its graceful, flowing lines and curvaceous bodywork.

General Motors Australia’s lead designer Warrick Leach and his team took the reins on the Buick Avenir’s design, returning to classic form with the company’s original tri-shield logo and a grille borrowed from the 1954 Buick Wildcat II concept.

Watch Emme Hall’s interview with Leach in the TFLcar “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know” Buick Avenir video below:

Highlights for the concept include a 2+2 seating layout, full-LED exterior lighting, 21-inch wheels, mobile device wireless charging, and a next-generation Buick IntelliLink infotainment system with 12-inch-diagonal color touch screen.

Power for the Buick Avenir comes courtesy of a direct-injected V-6 paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, which shuffles power to all four wheels via a unique twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system.

Buick says the Avenir, which is French for “the future,” is the company’s vision for a future flagship sedan.  We sure hope the next-generation LaCrosse (or LaCrosse replacement) looks, in majority, just like this.  Bravo, Buick and Holden, for making something so beautifully desirable.

Additionally, the Honda FCV’s fuel cell stack fits completely in the front engine compartment.  The new stack provides a 60-percent increase and power and 33-percent reduction in unit size when compared with its predecessor.

Honda says they realize that hydrogen refueling infrastructure is limited and, accordingly, has winvested $14 million towards accelerating the development of refueling stations in California.    Honda has also committed to producing a new Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) by 2018.

The Honda FCV will launch in Japan, Europe, and the US in 2016, and is claimed to be the first in a generation of advanced Honda technology vehicles.

The 200-MPH 2016 Cadillac CTS-V made its debut Tuesday at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.

The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V has made its debut at the 2015 Detroit auto Show.  Powered by a 640-HP, 6.2-L supercharged V-8 engine, the new CTS-V will be able to achieve a 3.7-second 0-60 MPH run on its way to a 200-MPH top speed, when it launches late this summer.

The new 6.2-L supercharged mill employs a smaller, 1.7-L supercharger, as well as direct-fuel-injection and cylinder-deactivation technologies. Cadillac says the supercharger’s rotors are smaller in diameter than the previous supercharged engine, allowing higher maximum rpm that enables boost to be generated earlier in the rpm band.

The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V’s power is channeled to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential and a new 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission. The 8L90 features Performance Algorithm Shifting, which is claimed to produce shifting performance comparable to a dual-clutch transmission with the refinement of a traditional torque-converter-equipped automatic.

The newest CTS-V features a standard carbon fiber hood and an available carbon fiber vent, front splitter, rear spoiler and rear diffuser. Structural stiffness has been increased by 25 percent over its predecessor by use of extensive bracing and a unique aluminum shear panel at the front of the chassis.

Standard 19-inch lightweight wheels are shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires – 9.5 inches wide in the front, and 10 inches wide in the rear. A revised multi-link double-pivot MacPherson-strut front suspension incorporates hydraulic bushings, where traditional elastomeric bushings are replaced with zero-compliance cross-axis ball joints, higher-rate springs and a stiffer stabilizer bar for 20-percent greater roll stiffness. Cadillac’s five-link suspension remains in the rear.

To promote positive handling, which Lexus says was tested and honed-in on the famed Nurburgring, the 2016 Lexus GS F features the company’s Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD) as standard equipment.  TVD has three driver-selectable modes, standard, slalom, and track, which adjust steering firmness and responsiveness during cornering.  TVD had previously made its debut in the 2015 Lexus RC-F sports coupe.

The new GS F shods forged wheels wrapped with staggered Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires (255/35-19 front, and 275/35-19 rear). A firmed-up suspension combined with an enhanced braking system relying on 15-inch front rotors that are available with bright orange 6-piston calipers help give the GS F enhanced high-speed handling and braking capability.

Pricing, fuel economy, and other specifications have not yet been released, but Lexus says the 2016 GS F sedan should be in US showrooms later this year.
