Here at TFL, we always seize every opportunity we get to check out a cool Jeep. The Wrangler is one of the most quintessentially American vehicles on the road. After all, its military ancestor helped win World War II. It traversed vast, spanning landscapes, it saved nations, and it gave way to one of the most iconic off-road vehicles in history. From the first Jeeps to leave the Willys-Overland plant in Toledo, Ohio, industrious workers have built millions of examples in the past 75 years. From 1945, Willys-Overland, then Kaiser-Jeep, then AMC and Chrysler, now under the wing of Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles, have built the Jeep CJ, YJ, and this: the 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ.

Specifically, this example is a 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ Rubicon owned by Travis, a local TFL viewer. However, this isn’t just any 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ Rubicon. It actually has an interesting, rare feature. What is it, you may ask? 2003 was the launch year for the Rubicon model – the most off-road capable Wrangler model Jeep produces from the factory. This one has a 4.0-liter straight-six engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Pretty standard stuff – nothing unusual there. It also has power windows – a rare feature in TJ Wranglers. That’s an aftermarket accessory though, so it isn’t that either. What could it be?

For those of you who are still wondering what “secret” this TJ Wrangler is hiding, it’s actually in plain sight. That would be the color. Called “Inca Gold” this particular Wrangler TJ is one of just 212 Rubicons painted in that color. It’s also specific to 2003, so only 212 Jeep Wrangler TJ Rubicons in Inca Gold are out there, period.
