The all-new 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E news is only a few days old, and now a Ford Executive confirms that the company is working on an even higher performance Shelby version of the four-door battery electric all-wheel-drive version of the car.

The news report comes to us from EVO via a Motor1.com article. The report states Ed Krenz – Ford Performance Chief Program Engineer – as saying “[he is] looking forward to the challenge of applying the Shelby characteristics to an electric car.

The base version of the upcoming 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is coming in about a year from now. Ford already officially announced that a higher performance Mach-E GT will be available in 2021. This electric GT car is said to post 0-60 mph acceleration times in about 3.5 seconds.

Naturally, there is room above the GT for a quicker and faster model. This would be equivalent to a Tesla high performance model with Ludicrous mode.

Ford has not officially confirmed or denied that a Mach-E Shelby is indeed in the works.

Ford spokesperson said “With Mustang there is always opportunity for performance variants. Right now it’s the Shelby GT500 just now hitting dealerships and following that the all-new electric Mustang Mach-E SUV next year. It’s premature to speculate beyond those two new members of the Mustang lineup.
