The upcoming 2019 Ford Focus reveal is coming up on April 10. What do we know so far?
Ford’s compact Focus has been with us for nearly two decades now. After hitting the scenes in Europe in 1998, we saw the Escort replacement arrive on our shores in 1999. Now, eighteen years and three generations later, the Focus is set for its next debut. The current model has been around since the 2012 model year, and received its mid-cycle refresh in 2015. Ford Romania released a teaser video with a date for the 2019 Ford Focus reveal: April 10th. So we know it’s coming, but what else do we know at this point?
Not much, really. When we attended the Ford Uncovered event – covering the company’s product plans over the next two years – last month, we noticed the Focus was conspicuously absent. Naturally, in today’s market, they’re focused more on crossovers and SUVs. That said, the Focus is still a volume seller for Ford. On that basis, it makes sense to go ahead and update it for a new generation, right? Well, now it appears the wait may soon be over. The teaser video doesn’t reveal much, other than the new generation retains its hatchback form. There are also some sharp looking headlights and some sporty looking wheels.
We do also know our next Focus will be sourced from China, rather than Mexico. European models will be produced in Germany before Chinese-built Focus models hit the North American market. We’ll share more details on the 2019 Ford Focus reveal as they become available. Stay tuned to TFLcar.com for more updates! Subscribe to The Fast Lane Car and TFLnow for our latest news and reviews.
