Back at the 2018 LA Auto Show, Hyundai revealed its funky new Kona crossover. Sporting Hyundai’s trademark grille design, a funky, Cherokee-esque headlight setup and Lime Twist paint, this is the sort of car you wouldn’t lose in a parking lot. Now, after the Kona’s television debut before Super Bowl LII, they officially announced pricing for the 2018 Hyundai Kona.

Before we get into that, however, let’s go through a recap of the specs. Under the hood, you get two engine options. On lower trim levels (SEL and below), Hyundai gives you a naturally-aspirated, 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine. That’s good for 147 horsepower at 6,200 RPM and 132 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 RPM. Each of those engines are mated to a six-speed Shiftronic automatic transmission.

Spring for the Limited or the Ultimate, and you can have a turbocharged, 1.6-liter four-cylinder pushing out 175 horsepower at 5,500 RPM. The engine is torquey too – you get 195 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 to 4,500 RPM. The turbocharged mill comes yoked to a seven-speed, EcosShift dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The 2018 Hyundai Kona will be available in March, with prices starting from $19,500 (excluding destination charges). If you want all-wheel drive, tack $1,300 onto the price of any trim level.

At that price level, the Kona just undercuts the Honda HR-V (starting MSRP $19,670). However, it saves a decent chunk of change over the Mazda CX-3 ($20,110) and handily beats the Toyota C-HR’s starting price of $22,500.

In terms of standard equipment, the 2018 Hyundai Kona comes out swinging with a 7-inch Android Auto/Apple CarPlay infotainment system. For $150, you can have a color-contrasting roof. Step up to the SEL, and Hyundai adds in a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, among other features available in the $1,500 Tech Package like fog lights, a sunroof, and forward-collion avoidance.
