Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Concept: British Sophistication Married with Italian Beauty [News]

Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Concept

There is a rich history between the fabled automaker, Aston Martin, and the Italian design house, Zagato, that goes back to when Dwight D. Eisenhower was President of the United States. The latest special edition born from their collaboration is the AM Vanquish Zagato making its global debut at this weekend’s distinguished Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este held at picturesque Lake Como.

Underneath the beautifully sculpted exterior is AM’s naturally-aspirated 6.0-liter V12 boosted to 592 bhp, plus some special tweaks that amp up the driving dynamics of an already capable virtuoso of the road.

The body, a collaborative design by Aston Martin’s Marek Reichman and Zagato’s Andrea Zagato, is shaped entirely from carbon fiber, with the ‘split lines’ reduced by large, one piece panels. The front is distinctly Aston Martin, the rear taillights are a classic Zagato design.

Inside, there’s more carbon fiber herringbone, bronze leather, plus the all-important ‘Z’ quilt pattern on the seats and doors, and embossed onto the headrests.

“It represents the essence of an important design relationship that dates back over 50 years,” explains Andrea Zagato. Click any of the images below to browse the photo gallery and let us know if you think it’s worthy to sit alongside such Aston-Zagato greats as the DB4 GT and V12 Vantage Zagato.
