When the Jaguar F-TYPE entered the automotive realm a couple years ago, it quickly earned accolades across the world for its gorgeous styling, athletic handling, and potent supercharged engines. Whether you prefer the open-air feeling of a convertible or a prestigious sports coupe, the F-TYPE delivers on all points – thrilling performance, luxurious interior, and knock-out styling.
The base engine in the 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE is a 340 horsepower supercharged V6. Ballers who want to maintain their status will opt for the F-TYPE R outfitted with a 550 horsepower supercharged V8 and 8-speed automatic. The 5.0-liter uses forced induction to race from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds and continue onto a top speed of 186 mph.
For the 2016 model year, all-wheel drive is available and the choice to row your own gears with a 6-speed manual for the V6 models.
TFL test driver, Paul Gerrard, puts the 2016 F-TYPE R through a series of performance tests. How fast is the F-TYPE R around the IMI Motorsports track and how fast can it reach 60 mph one mile above sea level? Tune into TFLcar’s new video series, Hot or Not, to find out.
