Dodge’s new 2016 Viper ACR promises to be the fastest street-legal Viper in the model’s history when it hits showrooms in late 2015.

The ACR – for American Club Racing – sports a variety of chassis, suspension and aerodynamic enhancements over the stock Viper. The large rear wing, rear diffuser, hood, front splitter extensions and dive planes are part of the Extreme Aero package and can deliver one ton of downforce at 177 mph, the car’s top speed.

The suspension is enhanced with adjustable coilover Bilstein shocks designed specifically for the 2016 Viper ACR. They provide 10-way adjustability for compression and rebound and have over three inches of height adjust.

The ACR features Brembo Carbon Ceramic Matrix brakes, 15.4 inches in front and 14.2 inches in the rear. The brakes are squeezed with six-piston calipers in front and four-piston calipers in the rear. The brakes have been optimized to reduce unsprung weight.

The ACR’s tires are specially designed Kumho Ecsta V720s, with a unique tread pattern and compounds for front and rear tires and riding on 19-inch wheels front and back.

At the heart of the Viper ACR is the hand-built, 8.4-liter V-10 engine making 645 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, the latter being the most torque of any naturally aspirated engine. All that power is sent to the rear wheels through the same six-speed manual as the regular Viper. The ACR’s electronic stability control has five modes – Full-on, Sport, Track, Rain and Full-off.

All Viper ACRs are hand built at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit.
