Cadillac is introducing not one, but two V-series vehicle lines for 2016. The 2015 Detroit Auto Show will be the stage for the introduction of the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V sedan. There is no word on the CTS-V coupe.

Where as the ATS-V is squarely targeting the BMW M3/M4 and Mercedes C-class AMG. The CTS-V aims to defeat the M5 and the E-class AMG sedan from across the pond. What are the tools in the battle? How about a 6.2L supercharged LT4 V8 with 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque. This just happens to be the most powerful car that Cadillac has ever produced. If the engine sounds familiar, it should be. It’s a slightly detuned version of the 2015 Z06 motor.

The 8-speed automatic transmission is the only choice to send the power to the rear wheels. The specially designed launch control helps this sedan do a 0-60 MPH in around 3.7 seconds, and the car has enough aerodynamic tweaks and power to reach a top speed of 200 MPH (according to Cadillac).

The new CTS-V has a stiffer chassis, the latest Magnetic Ride Control, and all the latest high-tech goodies you have come to expect from Cadillac.

Competition has officially been warned.

2016 CTS-V pricing and official on-sale dates have not yet been announced, but expect it to be released in 2015 after the ATS-V goes on sale.
