Several 2016 Mercedes-Benz GT AMG’s sporting camouflage rumbled through the Mile High City during high altitude testing. The new Mercedes-Benz GT AMG is said to be powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 making between (approximately) 455 and 503 horsepower depending on the model. Mercedes-Benz is taking aim squarely at the Porsche 911 and Audi R8, although the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GT AMG will have its powerplant positioned in front of the driver.

Special thanks to Alyssa L for taking these outstanding photos!
Unlike the larger, ostentatious SLS AMG, the GT AMG does not come with gull-wing doors. The Mercedes-Benz GT AMG is built on the SLS AMG platform, but it’s shorter and lighter. The way we hear it: Mercedes-Benz is very serious about the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GT AMG’s performance and did away with unnecessary gizmos and doodads too.

Prices have yet to be announced; however, scuttlebutt has it that Mercedes-Benz is aiming at the $100,000 range for the base model.
