2015 Mustang: 5 Things You Need To Know

2015 Mustang Suspension

A car has four wheels, it would make sense for the car to treat each wheel independently of each other. In prior Mustangs, the rear suspension was a live axle setup. This setup made it great for getting traction at the drag strip, but would create interesting handling characteristics during the daily drive. An independent rear suspension (IRS) lets Ford give the Mustang a more predictable ride on the street, and hopefully improve handling characteristics on a road course or twisty back road.

Will the IRS hurt drag strip traction? That’s hard to say at this point, but Ford still takes drag racing seriously. They’ve included an electronic line lock on the 2015 Mustang GT with the manual transmission.
