Is this the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V coupe? TFLcar caught this prototype undergoing high altitude testing, and it is a fast one. This coupe was playing cat and mouse for a little bit, and then it disappeared into the distance. The 2015 ATS coupe is coming to market this summer, and Cadillac is already far along into testing the “V” performance model.
Cadillac has been on a roll recently. The all-new ATS and fully redesigned CTS sedans have been scoring top awards left and right. However, the proper “V” models have not been refreshed in several years. Cadillac is looking to fix it soon with the ATS-V and the CTS-V monsters.
Expect the ATS-V coupe to go head-to-head against the recently unveiled BMW M4 and the Audi RS5. Of course, there are also the upcoming Lexus RC F and the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. The word on the street is that ATS-V coupe will use Caddy’s new twin-turbo 3.6L V6 with a 425 horsepower tune. This motor is already doing duty in the 2014 CTS Vsport with 420 horsepower. The XTS Vsport sedan uses a 410 hp version. It’s an impressive motor and it will have more than enough oomph in the relatively light weight ATS to challenge any competitor.
