Toyota Officially Announces North American HQ Is Going To Texas

The rumor was confirmed today as Toyota announced that they will be consolidating their North American offices to one location in North Dallas (Plano), Texas.

The move will unify Toyota’s three separate North American headquarters for manufacturing, sales and marketing, and corporate operations into a single facility in Plano and will happen over the course off the next three years. The move will affect about 4,000 Toyota employees.

Some of those employees will begin moving to Plano this summer, but most will stay put until the new HQ is complete sometime in late 2016 or early 2017. They’re also expanding the Toyota Technical Center in Michigan to accommodate the relocation of direct procurement from the Erlanger, Kentucky facility as part of an increased investment in engineering and to manage future growth in product development.

The Plano facility will be an environmentally-sustainable campus expected to break ground in the fall of 2014.
