The large 2015  SUVs from Chevrolet and GMC get incremental improvements in fuel economy.  The models equipped with the 5.3L V8 with cylinder deactivation get 10% better efficiency on the highway and 7% better in the city.  This means that a 2WD Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, or Yukon XL with the 5.3L V8 is rated at 16 MPG city and 23 MPG highway.

When you step up to the luxurious Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali models that feature the powerful 6.2L V-8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, you can expect  15 city/21 highway MPG ratings for 2WD.

It’s good to see these incremental improvements, especially as the both V8 engines also raise the power outputs.   However, is 10% gain in efficiency enough to stay ahead of new competition from 2015 Ford Expedition and 2015 Lincoln Navigator?
