Man I’m glad my wife doesn’t troll eBay Motors often – otherwise she might trade in the kids’ trust funds and our measly savings to bid on Oprah Winfrey’s 1996 Bentley Azure. With a “Buy it Now” price of $67,900 – I’m surprised no one has snatched it up.
According to the eBay ad “BOUGHT NEW FROM BRAMAN BENTLEY ROLLS ROYCE IN MIAMI, FLORIDA BY LEGENDARY TALK SHOW HOST OPRAH WINFREY!!” – – Sales person who uses UPPER CASE too often…
Anyway, it looks pristine and for those of you who are unfamiliar with the older Bentley Azure lookie’ here: this thing is a monster! It’s 6¾-liter V8 was turbocharged and put out 400 horsepower. More importantly, it cranked out 645 lb-ft of torque! That means, despite weighing nearly three tons – it could roar from 0 to 60 mph in just over six seconds.
I’ve driven a similar model and it just oozes comfort and sophistication. Still, if you drive on the back roads, the handling is surprisingly good for something that out-weighs most pickup trucks. It could actually be considered “fun.”
That’s not too shabby for a rolling palatial brick.
It’s got less than 50K miles on it, which is very little while still showing Oprah liked driving herself (and a few pets – so I’m told) back and forth to the studio. The photos, which I used right off of eBay, show the Bentley to be in good condition externally and I’m guessing the engine runs as good as it looks. I guarantee, Oprah had no problem keeping up with the ridiculously expensive maintenance program needed by the Azure.
The price is good and the memories of driving the Oprah-mobile will last a life time – so, buy it today!
