The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is a practical family wagon, but is it quick?
Is the 2018 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack faster than a Ford Fiesta…ST? In our new game show, we’re pitching this 197 horsepower hot hatchback against family vehicles to see which may actually be faster than a Fiesta ST. This episode may turn up some surprising results! Why? Because the challenger isn’t a car you’d really ever consider to be quick. The Golf Alltrack does have a turbocharged engine, but it’s still a wagon. It’s still a grocery hauler. Actually, since it does have more ground clearance than the Golf SportWagen, it’s also a great adventure vehicle. Still, it’s built for comfort and practicality, not necessarily out-and-out speed.
Ah, but sometimes there’s a lot more going on under the skin. The 1.8-liter turbocharged engine in the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack produces a decent amount of power and torque for its size. You get 170 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque, to the Fiesta’s 197 horsepower and 202 lb-ft of torque from its high-strung 1.6-liter turbo engine. However, there is one key difference at play in this episode of Is It Faster than a Ford Fiesta…ST. The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack has all-wheel drive.
With the Alltrack’s 4MOTION system and a healthy amount of low-down torque, does this adventure wagon have what it takes to best the Ford Fiesta…ST? Find out by watching the episode above!
