Toyota’s best selling hybrid makes a big entrance under the big lights of Las Vegas. The redesigned 2016 Toyota Prius celebrated the beginning of its fourth generation with a grand production of music, food, and special effects that will be remembered for a long time. Yes, the Prius’ class-leading fuel economy got better – 10 percent better according to Toyota – but the all-new Prius gets a new look and an new interior that hugs it passengers in eco-goodness.

The new 2016 Prius is 2.4 inches longer, 0.6 inches wider and 0.8 inches lower than the outgoing model. The new dimensions sets up a better on-road feel, has a lower center of gravity, and provides more space inside for passengers and cargo. Ride quality and handling has been improved with an all-new rear double wishbone suspension and more rigid body. That stronger body also enhances passenger protection in the event of a nasty accident.

Safety is paramount at Toyota and the all-new Prius is one of the first cars to have Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), a safety package that will be standard with all future Toyota cars and crossover SUVs. Active safety technology in TSS includes an automated pre-collision braking system, lane keep assistance, dynamic radar cruise control that can bring the car to a full stop, and automatic high beams that adjust to the surrounding light and oncoming traffic.
