TFLcar is on our way to Detroit for the unveiling of the next generation U.S.-specification of the 2016 Chevy Cruze. The official debut will take place on June 24th, 2015 and we will bring you as many details from this event as the information embargo allows (if any).
The next Cruze is using the new platform that will also underpin the Buick Verano and the Opel Astra. Fuel economy is still very important, so you can expect weight saving technologies, small direct-injected EcoTec engine lineup, and a selection of seven and six speed transmissions.
These prototypes were caught undergoing emissions and other testing at high altitude of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This camouflage hides most of the details and it’s not easy to identify the models. However, a closer inspection of the front grille suggests that this could be the next compact sedan from Chevrolet. Other guesses include the 2017 Hyundai Elantra and (the platform cousin) Opel Astra sedan.
