The Renegade is entering the fast growing segment of sub-compact crossovers that didn’t exist just a few years ago. The Nissan Juke has occupied this space, but entries from Chevy Trax, Honda HR-V, and Mazda CX-3 are joining the fun very quickly. The Renegade brings a variety of options, models, and drivetrains for maximum appeal. The two engines are the 1.4L turbocharged four with 160 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque and the 2.4L Tigershark naturally aspirated motor with 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. There is a choice between a 9-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmissions. The Renegade Trailhawk wears Jeep’s “Trail Rated” badge and brings the additional off-road hardware. It has 8.7 inches of ground clearance and a low axle gear ratio of 4.33.
